Tom Metier Secures Record-Breaking $52 Million Personal Injury Verdict

Attorney Tom Metier Attorneys Online, Inc. client Tom Metier, founder of the Metier law firm, just secured a record-breaking personal injury verdict of $52 million. This is now the largest personal injury verdict ever in Colorado.

Tom tried the case over two weeks with co-counsel Jim Gilbert, his law partner Phil Chupik and attorneys Tony Bolson and Anne Dieruf. Their client was a woman who was severely injured in a collision and rollover accident. The woman, a wife and mother of four young children, suffered a cervical fracture and spinal injury at C6-7. She sustained permanent paralysis of her legs and lost the substantial use of her hands.

The lawsuit had multiple claims: one of negligence against the at-fault driver and a product liability claim against the seatbelt manufacturer. Tom noted that he had a “millennial jury,” in which five of the six jurors were under 29 years old. None of the jurors had children, although one woman was pregnant throughout the trial. Tom was grateful that the jury recognized the extreme severity of the case and rendered the verdict in the exact amount he requested in closing arguments.

Attorneys Online is extremely proud to call Tom Metier and his law firm a long-time client. Tom is an exemplary litigator who truly cares about ensuring his clients are represented to the best of his abilities in court.
