AOI Sends Thoughts And Prayers To Victims Of The SXSW Tragedy

Austin skylineThe AOI team sends its support and prayers to those injured in last night’s accident at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival. Drunk driving accidents are always tragic, especially when they occur in your own backyard among friends and family. A suspected drunk driver was attempting to flee police at a gas station off the side of I-35 at approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 12. The driver turned onto a one-way street going against traffic, collided into a barrier and a crowd of people. A woman on a moped and a cyclist from the Netherlands were killed in the accident and 23 others were injured.

We are deeply concerned for the welfare of the victims and their families of the SXSW tragedy. Austin is a supportive and tight-knit community and, as a small family business based here for over fifteen years, we are greatly saddened by the tragedy. Furthermore, we would like to honor the EMT team and policemen who responded to the accident without hesitation, taking care of the wounded and escorted the seriously injured to UMC Brackenridge Hospital. We hope that Austin residents and visitors stay safe throughout the remainder of the SXSW festival.
